The Coffee Scrub

A few years back, coffee scrub was the IN thing… Every man, women, child and animal was doing it, and for a good reason! Coffee scrubs are pretty good at eliminating dead skin while working with your body’s natural renewal process to produce new skin cells ~ creating that glowing effect.

My husband is an avid coffee drinker, so we have our own machine at home, and every morning scoops & scoops of used coffee goes into our organic waste bin… In NZ, they have organic waste bins (pick up your game QLD!) Although I don’t feel so bad about the waste, I do like to reuse when possible…

You’ve probably seen separate types of coffee scrubs (one for your face, and one for your body), this is mainly a marketing ploy to get you to buy more products… Trust me, as long as the beans are finely ground and don’t have an essential oil in them which may not be best for your face (peppermint) - they’re fine for both your face and your body!

THE RECIPE:

Grab a small glass jar, and stir together…

4-6 tablespoons of ground coffee beans (fresh or used)

1-3 tablespoons of melted coconut oil or your oil of choice

A few drops of your fave skin-loving essential oils (I use 2 drops of Frankincense, 2 drops of Lavender and 1-2 drops of Helichrysum).

The variances in measurements depends on your personal texture preference!

TO USE:

Massage onto your face in gentle, circular motions, then rinse with warm water.

The mixture is best kept in the fridge and will be a-ok for several weeks :)

Happy scrubbing!
